Change order

A change order is a written modification to scope, price, or time after the base contract is signed. Until it is priced and approved, the budget is incomplete.

Worked example

On a hypothetical clinic renovation, the owner adds a second exam wing. The change order prices the work at $320,000 and adds fourteen calendar days.
